Started writing children’s software reviews seven or eight years ago because it seemed as if families and educators of NDA kids had no guide to the most interesting and effective educational software either.Although we’ve seen some great stuff that was developed for kids with special needs (and some went on to find a successful niche in the mainstream market), I was amazed when we first started out to discover what was available for nda kids.
My son helped me review several pieces of mainstream children’s software before the first special ed software came in the mail. I was amazed at how easily he could get around the programs and how much time he was willing to spend at the computer, learning. That first special needs education software was rather primitive in graphics and design and I was shocked when after being shown what was available in the program my little boy stood up and announced it was *boring* and left to go back to his Legos.
